In front of the village, in a closed bay, one discovers the beautiful organized beach of Agios Pavlos, which remains unchanged to this day by the signs of time. The small downhill path that leads to the beach, is said to have been the point where Saint Paul took refuge to rest, during his journey to Rome, hence the name of the village and the beach. A breath away from the main beach, at the western end, is another unknown to many diamonds of the Libyan Sea, the Dunes of Agios Pavlos or Atsalogremni as they are called by the locals. An unprecedented gastronomic experience is offered to the visitors of the settlement, as in the area grow special greens such as «akindinos», wild leek, wild artichoke and mushrooms “Artikites”, mushrooms that always grow at the root of the widespread plant in Crete, Arkitas. which is located in the mountains of the province of Agios Vassilios of Rethymno but also in a part of Amari. All these rare plants of the Cretan land are cooked with special traditional Cretan techniques.
